Mug is made from artist-mixed porcelain clay and features a unique printmaking process for the image application. Images are made from hand-mixed ink applied to photocopies in a lithography transfer process which puts the image on the clay surface PRIOR to any firings. This process yields an image durable to any use since it is protected under the glaze layer, unlike decal applications which can fade over time and with washing. Glazes are also artist-mixed (not commercial) and the exterior glaze is a beautiful frosty satin transparent, allowing the image to be visible underneath. Great care must be taken as a too-thick glaze can blur and ruin the image. Decades of diligence and making in the field of ceramics yields this product made by my hands just for you!
